Our Story.
Oak forest dental wellness has a history of it’s own. read about how I’ve come to make it what it is today.
Dentistry has always had a special place in my heart. I was inspired to become a dentist from my very first dentist — my dad.
for as long as I could remember, I always looked up to my dad. I remember being so proud when he came to my kindergarten class for career day and spoke about being a dentist. I thought he was cooler than all the other dads!
Growing up He always spoke about how he loved what he did and It was obvious my dad’s patients loved him too. I would witness it every time I worked at his clinic-They viewed him with such respect and would talk to him like family.
when I was in high school I started assisting at my dad’s practice. I loved how comfortable it felt being around the patients and the team. it felt like home for me.
In my teens we went on a dental mission trip in the Philippines. That experience was an eye opener - we saw hundreds of kids with black, decayed teeth. It struck me how important of oral health and education is. That was the first time I realized how much I wanted to be a dentist and how much I could help underserved people.
AFter dental school I began working as a dentist at my dad’s clinic. I loved working there; I’ve known some of those patients my whole life! but AFter a few years I was ready to venture out on my own.
I was very lucky to have found Dr. O’Donnell’s practice. I felt both excited and anxious to be taking it over. Unlike my dad’s practice, i was new to the team and patients and that was nerve-wrecking. Luckily, Dr. O’Donnell had an amazing team that supported me from day one. I was very blessed.
The first six months of ownership I focused on meeting the patients, learning how the team operates and getting advice from Dr. O’Donnell.
After those initial months I started making the practice my own: We painted, changed the lights, changed some flooring and updated the oldest dental operatory chair. My proudest update is the waiting room because it feels so warm and inviting. Patients compliment it all the time and i truly want them to feel like their at home here. Of course, there’s an endless list of more ideas but all good things take time.
I’m happy that the office feels more like home and I only hope to continue making my patients feel like they’re family here.
With Love,
